Started with one mower and a standard I wasn't willing to drop
I’m a high school student in Waconia, and I built this business the only way I knew how — by out-working everyone else on the block and refusing to leave a yard looking half-finished.
What started as mowing a few neighborhood lawns turned into mulch beds, rock installs, retaining walls, hedge trimming, aeration, pressure washing, holiday lights and snow removal. Every one of those services got added because a customer asked if I could do it, and I went and learned how to do it properly.
Here’s the thing I noticed early: the big companies are built around speed. They’re paid per stop, so the goal is to finish and move on. I’d rather take the extra twenty minutes to edge the walk, blow the driveway clean, and shape the shrubs the way they should be shaped. That difference is the entire business.
I don’t have a fleet of trucks or an office to pay for, which is exactly why I can charge less than the big outfits for the same list of services. You’re paying for the work, not the overhead.
