How we handle it
Retaining walls fail when the base is rushed. We dig a proper trench, compact a gravel base, level every course, and backfill with drainage rock so water moves through the wall instead of pushing it over. Built right the first time, a wall holds its line for decades instead of leaning out after a couple of Minnesota winters.
